Our story
Hannah and Brad met at Pyrenees Bar in Bakersfield through a mutual friend in May of 2019. It was love at first sight (for Brad). At the end of the night that they spent ignoring their other friends to get to know each other better, Brad asked Hannah when they were going to get married. Hannah denied him stating he “wasn’t tall enough for her”. Brad, being 6’3”, was determined to change her mind.
Over the next 3 1/2 years, Hannah would get messages from their mutual friend that Brad was asking about her just about every six months or so.
In January 2023, tragedy struck for Hannah. Her mom was dying of cancer and Hannah was spending many days out of the month in Bakersfield, instead of in Sacramento, where she lived at the time. She reconnected with Brad and remembered that he was in healthcare. She asked if he could come help her and her dad figure out how to help her mom. He came over after his ambulance shift that same day and spent the last week of her mom’s life by Hannah, Chris, and Sandy’s sides.
When Hannah had to go back up to Sacramento, Brad decided to drive her up to help her dad out. It was convenient because Brad had an apartment he had been planning to look at on his next trip up since he was planning to move up to Sacramento to be closer to one of his best friends. When Brad and Hannah got to Sacramento, she realized she left her house and car keys at her dad’s house in Bakersfield, four hours away. She asked Brad to stay the week with her until she saw her dad that weekend so she could get around town and to and from work. Brad agreed. And they spent their first week together.
Hannah decided to show Brad around town and took him on their first date to an arcade bar called Coin-Op. The gigantic nerd that Brad is fell in love with that place and Hannah the same night.
At the end of the worst week of Hannah’s life, she realized Brad made it seem not so bad or lonely, so they made plans for the next few weeks in a row.
On February 1, 2023, Brad asked Hannah to be his girlfriend and told her that over the last 3 1/2 years, he always thought of Hannah as the one that got away and he was so happy to be with Hannah now.
In late February 2023, Brad moved up to Sacramento full time, into the house that he had visited while driving Hannah around town the first week after her mom died, which was only 1.2 miles from Hannah’s house.
Over the next year, Brad and Hannah grew incredibly close and had many adventures together.
They went on camping and SXS trips. Flew to Hawaii, Colorado, Arizona, and New York. Took a cruise to Mexico, a trip to Mario World, and saw a few concerts, all while Brad was commuting 3 ½ hours each way to work every week.
Year two comprised of Brad pursing a career as a fire fighter by working at Amador Fire and attending Fire Academy.
They visited Brad’s alma mater after Hannah ran her first half marathon, all while Brad was cheering her on from the sidelines of Santa Cruz.
They attended a few weddings for their friends, Brad officially moved in (even though he had basically lived there the entire time already), and they got to work on building a backyard that they could enjoy with their friends at their rental house.
They saw a few more concerts, went back to Hawaii, and fell in love with Hannah’s dad’s girlfriend, Shannon.
They also went camping, met really great new friends, celebrated Brad’s graduation from fire academy and spread Hannah’s mom’s ashes in New Orleans, rang in the New Year in San Diego, and took a last minute trip to Las Vegas for their 2nd anniversary.
Although they had already had many adventures and fun together, life was about to get even more exciting during their third year of dating.
They spent the first part of the year attending friends’ birthday and housewarming parties, going camping, and mourning the loss of Brad’s great grandmother.
But, in May of 2025, on their annual Hawaii trip, things took an exciting turn!
As they were departing from Las Vegas to make it to Hawaii, they found out that the offer that they had put in on a house was approved and they were officially in escrow!
Two days later, on Mother’s Day, Brad proposed to Hannah with her mom’s (upgraded) ring, on a beach in Maui, her mom’s favorite place to be.
Two more days later, Brad got news that he was in the final stages of being hired at his dream job, then celebrated his 29th birthday the following day.
Within a week, their lives changed forever!
Since May of 2025, Hannah and Brad have been tirelessly working on upgrading their new (very old) house.
They have spent countless weekends working on projects at home, but still had some adventures.
They went to more concerts and music festivals, attended even more friends’ weddings, visited family far and wide, and visited Hannah’s alma mater.
They hosted their engagement party on New Year’s Eve, to celebrate the one year countdown to their big day!
So far in 2026, Brad turned 30, Hannah had two knee surgeries, and together, they worked together to build a great foundation for the start of the rest of their lives as the Visackis.
